Lien references both her name, Honglien, and her mother's name, Lienhoa, both meaning lotus flower. Lotus leaves appear in the upper right, while the hybrid creature combines elements of rooster and fish (an homage to water). Within this mutable form, a mother tenderly touches the head of her firstborn child.
