Vy Trịnh (b.1996, Ho Chi Minh City) is part of a younger generation of artists in Vietnam whose practice engages deeply with material, labor, and urban transformation. Working with found objects and industrial materials, she explores the embedded histories of use, movement, and care that shape everyday life.
Inspired by a motorcycle handbook, this publication delves into the artist’s practice and most recent works presented in her first major solo show ON DA DREAM (2024), curated by Thái Hà, at Galerie Quynh.
Featuring essays by Thái Hà, curator, writer and translator; Darius Sadighi, PhD candidate in the Department of Anthropology at Princeton University; and Wong Binghao (Bing), writer, editor and curator.
This catalogue is published after Vy Trịnh‘s solo exhibition ON DA DREAM, curated by Thái Hà, presented from August 10 to October 12, 2024, at Galerie Quynh, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
