Nguyen Phuong Linh

Biography

Nguyễn Phương Linh is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice spans installation, sculpture and video. Through the collection, transformation and reconfiguration of materials, she explores geographic and cultural shifts while tracing fragmented and ambiguous histories shaped by Vietnam's intersections of ethnicities, religions and geopolitical influences. Her works examine relationships between visibility and invisibility, form and time, weight and void, reflecting on displacement, vulnerability and the ways memory is carried through material.

Born and raised at Nhà Sàn Studio, one of Hanoi's longest-established artist-run spaces, Nguyễn Phương Linh co-founded Nhà Sàn Collective in 2013, where she continues to serve as co-director. Her works have been presented at the Uzbekistan Pavilion, Venice Biennale (2026); Tokyo Biennale (2025); Busan Biennale and the Asian Art Biennale, Taichung (2024); Listening to the Overtones of Fissure, Green Island, Taiwan (2023); documenta fifteen (2022); the Asia Pacific Triennial (2021); the Singapore Biennale, Kuandu Biennale and Shanghai Biennale (2016). In 2017, she received the Han Nefkens Foundation – BACC Award for Contemporary Art.
