âm sáng

Nguyen Huy An
Nguyen Huy An (b.1982, Vietnam) works across performance, installation, painting and sculpture to reflect on emotional connections with everyday materials while exploring themes of memory, absence and isolation.

Inspired by the folk and religious traditions of Northern Vietnam, am sang draws from relics, theatrical histories and cultural memory to examine the threads between heritage and contemporary life. The publication features Mutated Grammar, an essay by translator, writer and curator Nguyen-Hoang Quyen.

Published on the occasion of Nguyen Huy An: âm sáng, presented from June 13 to July 27, 2019, at Galerie Quynh, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, with the support of the British Council.
