An archaeology project for the future remembrance

Tiffany Chung

Tiffany Chung’s practice examines the geographical and social transformations of places shaped by war, urban redevelopment and political change. Through cartographic drawings, archival research and installation, her works explore the unstable relationship between memory, history and the construction of modernity.

Developed through extensive research into Thu Thiem — a district in Ho Chi Minh City demolished for urban redevelopment — An archaeology project for future remembrance reflects on displacement, erasure and the fragile traces of lived experience embedded within the city. Combining map-based works, collected materials and archival narratives, the project reimagines fragments of the past as future relics.

The publication includes essays by Erik Harms and Pamela N. Corey, further examining Chung’s engagement with urban transformation, memory and speculative archaeology.
