About Vân Đỗ

Vân Đỗ is a Hanoi-born curator and writer whose practice explores the relationships between artistic interventions, site, memory, and performance. Through context-responsive projects and architectural interventions, she examines the material, social, political, and archival dimensions of existing spaces, working across institutional, independent, and informal settings.

From 2019 to 2021, Vân was part of the curatorial team at The Factory Contemporary Arts Centre, Ho Chi Minh City. From 2022 to 2024, she served as Artistic Director of Á Space, an artist-driven independent space for experimental practices in Hanoi, where she initiated exhibitions and supported emerging artists and curators. She also co-organised a curatorial workshop programme and served as a lead curator for the Hanoi Creative Design Festival (2023–2024).

In 2025, Vân moved to Bangkok to join deCentral as a curator, expanding her engagement with contemporary art across Southeast Asia while continuing as a member of Á Space’s curatorial board. Her current research focuses on the re-enactment of performance as a method of imagination and speculation, developed through close collaboration with performance artists in Hanoi. Her forthcoming writings will be published by post-moma, NUS Press, Art & Market, and Movement Research Performance Journal. She received her training in experimental filmmaking and video art at Hanoi DOCLAB.
