Tuan Andrew Nguyen presents Temple, a new commission for the Ng Teng Fong Roof Garden Commission at the National Gallery Singapore, co-presented with the Singapore Art Museum as part of the 8th Singapore Biennale 2025.
In Temple, metal discs, chimes, and bells made from alloys of defused unexploded ordnance — carefully removed from the landscape of Quảng Trị in central Vietnam — are tuned to frequencies believed to promote healing in the human body. Suspended from a painted steel structure, the installation is activated through human touch and the subtle rhythms of the surrounding atmosphere, inviting visitors to participate in the creation of an evolving ambient soundscape.
