The Foliage V – The Touch of Science was organized by the VinFuture Foundation and the Vincom Center for Contemporary Art (VCCA) to celebrate scientific achievements and creative applications contributing to sustainable development and the future of humanity. The exhibition formed part of the 2025 VinFuture Science and Technology Week, marking both the fifth anniversary of the VinFuture Prize and the fifth edition of VCCA’s The Foliage exhibition series.
For the exhibition, Pham Minh Hieu presented Afterwards from his ongoing The Laboratory for Experimental (Meta)physics series. In this work, neon tubes — shaped according to the handwriting found in Tô Giang’s Advanced Training for Gifted High School Students: Mechanics 3 — become “conceptual sculptures,” occupying a space where physical form converges with abstract thought. Through this metaphysical laboratory, personal history intertwines with collective memory, inviting viewers into a contemplative environment where time, remembrance, and the relationship between the past and what comes afterwards are quietly experienced.
Curated by Do Tuong Linh, the exhibition brought together nine contemporary Vietnamese artists whose diverse practices explored the evolving relationship between art, science, technology, and human imagination.
