Pham Minh Hieu

Pham Minh Hieu (b. 1996, Hanoi, Vietnam) holds a BA with Honors in Art Practice from Stanford University. His interdisciplinary and collaborative practice draws from fields spanning philosophy, physics, technology, and anthropology. Traversing various modes of making — from artificial intelligence, nanofabrication, and additive manufacturing to traditional crafts such as sơn mài (lacquer) and khảm trai (pearl inlay) — Pham creates speculative environments that ponder the complex conditions of contemporaneity. His works often take shape as immersive spaces he describes as “total installations,” where objects, materials, and systems gather and unfold across multiple scales and realities.

In 2024, Pham Minh Hieu represented the first Vietnam Pavilion at the 15th Gwangju Biennale. The same year, he was part of the curatorial team behind Hanoi Children's Palace: Nostalgia for the Future, one of the key exhibitions of the Hanoi Festival of Creative Design.

In 2021, he received the John Shively Fowler Award in Photography at Stanford University. He is based in Hanoi.
